Hier zien we hoe retoriek de kracht heeft om een andere realiteit het leven in te roepen. Geopperd hier wordt dus dat taal niet gebruikt wordt om informatie of waarheden te communiceren, maar om tot verstaan te leiden en om consensus te bereiken. Wat een mens gelooft dat de waarheid is hangt dus sterk af van wat zijn medemens hierover denkt en wat deze hierover uitdraagt. Hierin ligt dus de kracht van de mythe en vooral de kracht van de charismatische leider. Door het toepassen van een goede retoriek worden mentale beelden opgeroepen bij de massa die kunnen leiden tot het creëren van een nieuwe realiteit die de voorkeur van de massa verdient boven de inconsistente, negatieve realiteit waarin ze zich daarvoor bevonden.
